Cambodia Checks Sealed Casinos in Koh Kong
Cambodia’s gambling regulator inspected sealed casinos in Koh Kong on May 15. Officials checked that the casinos are still closed. They also looked for any signs of illegal activity, including online scams.

Officials Visit Two Casino Sites
The Cambodia Commercial Gambling Management Commission (CGMC) led the inspection in Koh Kong province. Officials visited two sealed casino properties: Koh Kong International and Long Bay Entertainment.
CGMC Secretary General Yeth Vinel led the inspection team. Officials checked if electricity, water, and internet were still cut off. These services should remain disconnected after closure.
They also checked security cameras around the buildings. The goal was to make sure the casinos are fully closed and not being used again.
Koh Kong is near the Thailand border. In the past, this area had many casino businesses. Many foreign visitors came through the border to visit casinos. This helped local business but also increased government control and attention.
Focus on Crime and Scam Risks
Earlier that day, officials met with Koh Kong Governor Chhi Va. They discussed joint inspections and future monitoring plans. They also talked about ways to stop criminal groups from using empty casino buildings.
Authorities are concerned about online scam activity. Some scam groups may try to use closed casino sites. Officials want to stop these risks early. Main inspection points that officials focused on:
Making sure utilities stay disconnected
Checking security cameras
Monitoring sealed casino buildings
Preventing online scam activity
Stronger Gambling Control
The inspections are part of Cambodia’s wider effort to control gambling. Authorities have closed several casinos in recent months. They say this improves rules and increases trust. More inspections may happen if problems are found. For now, the sealed casinos in Koh Kong remain closed and under watch.
