The British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) and Konami Gaming, Inc. have entered into a partnership to launch the next generation of the widely popular BC Gold slot machines. This agreement will introduce 245 new video slot machines, updated software, and advanced signage displays across 27 casino locations in British Columbia by spring 2027.

BC Gold, a hallmark of British Columbia’s gaming scene since 1999, is a wide area progressive (WAP) game known for its substantial jackpots and community impact. Historically offered as a mechanical reel stepper machine, the game is now set to evolve into a modern video slot experience. This marks the first time the game will feature a fully digital format, bringing a fresh appeal while maintaining its roots in the province's mining heritage.

Konami Gaming was selected after a rigorous seven-month review process conducted by BCLC, based on:

  • Strong performance in game design.

  • Advanced technical capabilities.

  • Alignment with BCLC's goals for innovation and player engagement.

The upgraded BC Gold slots will feature a two-tier progressive jackpot system:

  • Mystery Gold Jackpot with prizes exceeding $100,000.

  • Mystery Silver Jackpot starting from $500.

  • Interconnected jackpots, allowing players across the province to contribute and compete through every BC Gold machine.

Dan Beebe, BCLC’s COO, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting that BC Gold has been a significant part of the gaming experience in the province for over two decades. The partnership with Konami is expected to:

  • Enhance the game’s appeal with innovative features.

  • Retain familiar branding and character for long-time fans.

  • Continue supporting community initiatives through gaming revenues.

BCLC is responsible for managing gambling activities in British Columbia, ensuring that profits benefit residents through funding for healthcare, education, and community projects. The organization also promotes responsible gaming through tools like PlayNow.com, its online platform providing resources for healthy play.

Konami Gaming, headquartered in Las Vegas and a subsidiary of KONAMI GROUP CORPORATION, is recognized globally for cutting-edge casino games and technology. The partnership with BCLC continues their longstanding collaboration to advance gaming experiences in the province.

Summary: The BCLC-Konami partnership modernizes BC Gold with digital upgrades, progressive jackpots, and innovative features while preserving its legacy and continuing to support community benefits in British Columbia.
