Father and Son Among Five Inducted Into the Mississippi Gaming Hall of Fame
The Mississippi Gaming Hall of Fame has named its 2024 inductees, honoring key figures whose leadership and vision have shaped the state’s gaming industry, strengthened its economy, and left a lasting legacy of innovation and integrity.
The Mississippi Gaming Hall of Fame has announced its new inductees, recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to the gaming industry in the state and beyond. This prestigious honor highlights their impactful careers and dedication to advancing the gaming sector.
Tim Hinkley’s Pioneering Legacy
Tim Hinkley, an industry pioneer, is among the distinguished honorees. As the general manager of the Isle of Capri Casino, he oversaw the opening of Mississippi's first casino in 1992.
Under his leadership, the Isle of Capri Casino set a precedent for the state's gaming industry.
His efforts paved the way for future developments and positioned Mississippi as a national gaming leader.
Hinkley's contributions spurred economic growth and boosted tourism in the region.
Jon Lucas and Post-Katrina Recovery
Another notable inductee is Jon Lucas, who served as the general manager at the IP Casino Resort Spa in Biloxi from 2005 to 2011, a period marked by the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Lucas led recovery efforts, ensuring the casino could reopen and remain a major Biloxi attraction.
His leadership revitalized not only the casino but also the local economy.
His initiatives showcased the crucial role of gaming in regional rebuilding.
Honoring the Gresham Legacy
The Hall of Fame also posthumously honors William Gresham Jr., the first chairman of the Mississippi Gaming Commission, who served from 1993 through 2001.
Gresham helped establish the regulatory framework ensuring integrity and stability in Mississippi’s gaming sector.
His son, Thomas Gresham, continued his legacy as commissioner from 2015 to 2023, modernizing regulations and upholding industry standards.
Together, their leadership strengthened oversight, consumer protection, and sustainable growth.
Larry Gregory, Executive Director of the Mississippi Gaming and Hospitality Association, praised the honorees for their lasting contributions and leadership in shaping Mississippi’s gaming success.
The inductees will be honored at the sixth annual Hall of Fame Dinner Gala, sponsored by the Mississippi Gaming and Hospitality Association, on June 27 at the MGM Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, celebrating their profound impact on the state’s economic and social landscape.
