The Fontainebleau Las Vegas has scheduled its opening date for December 13. That day will mark the commencement of the countdown to the public’s first opportunity to explore the interior of a massive structure that has been developing for nearly two decades.

The 67-story hotel will become the tallest occupied structure in Nevada. This building will have over 3,600 rooms and suites with a colour palette featuring blue and silver water tones. Other features will include coral-pink accents, mercury-glass mirrors and brass details.

The hotel will also offer an array of restaurants, a spacious gym and fitness centre, as well as spa facilities.

The construction of the massive building started in 2007 during the US real estate bubble. The company was expected to open its premises in October 2009. However, work ceased when the project faced bankruptcy during the Great Recession, leading to years of stagnation.

Ownership of the project changed hands several times over the subsequent decade. In 2018, it was rebranded as Drew Las Vegas after being acquired by Steven Witkoff and Miami-based investment firm New Valley LLC for $600 million.

Unfortunately, construction was suspended in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Nevada’s statewide shutdown.

Fontainebleau Las Vegas currently accepts reservations, offering rooms and suites, 36 restaurant concepts, a 14,000-square-foot fitness centre, a 55,000-square-foot spa, and unique experiences like LIV and LIV Beach.

Renowned chefs, including Chef Gabriela Cámara, Michelin-starred chefs Masa Ito and Kevin Kim, Alan Yau, Evan Funke and David Grutman, will contribute to the diverse restaurant lineup.

Additional amenities include a boutique retail district, a six-acre pool area, 550,000 square feet of meeting space and a 150,000-square-foot casino floor. The resort plans to employ over 6,500 staff members.

Fontainebleau Development Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Soffer conveyed in a media statement that the Fontainebleau brand has consistently pushed boundaries and defied expectations for nearly 70 years.

Soffer emphasized that Fontainebleau Las Vegas represents a departure from mere aspiration, ushering in a new era of luxury hospitality characterized by innovation, sophistication, and opulence.

Soffer also referred to the establishment’s strong connection to its roots at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach and noted that this building signifies an extraordinary new chapter in its illustrious history, serving as a beacon for those pursuing unforgettable experiences.
