Gamdom casino took all of its systems offline after detecting a potential disk failure and identifying an unauthorised connection to one of its automation servers. The company said the shutdown was a precautionary measure to investigate the incident, protect users, and ensure that user funds are safe while services were being restored.

It is reported that the funds were transferred from the hot wallets by perpetrators, not as part of the brand’s security measures.

Where Is the Money?

Although Gamdom issued an official statement that “player funds are safe”, FairGambling reported that the casino’s hot wallets performed transactions to unknown accounts worth around €2.5 million.

Within 24 hours, the balance of Gamdom’s tracked hot wallets fell from €9.1 million to approximately €66,000. At least four of the five addresses that received the funds had no previous transaction history. Some of the money was later transferred to other addresses.

Felix Roemer, the casino’s founder, issued a statement on X confirming that Gamdom had been hacked. The attack on the operator’s hot wallets resulted in losses exceeding €2.5 million.

Fifty Shades of Hacking

The full extent of the cyberattack is yet to be determined, but Gamdom has assured that the breach has been taken under control. Nevertheless, the casino’s website is still “under maintenance”, and the company doesn’t know when services will be restored.

Hacking incidents are not uncommon in the iGaming industry, although they often involve data breaches and the exposure of players’ personal information rather than direct financial losses. For example, last year, hackers gained access to Stake players’ personal data. The Gamdom incident, involving millions in stolen funds, marks a more alarming development and deals a serious blow to the industry’s security reputation.
