Jackpot Glitch Affects Thousands of Players

The issue began when players noticed unusual jackpot payouts online. Many using the “Jackpot Drop” game saw sudden, very large account balances. Some claimed their balances jumped into the six or seven-figure range.

Normally, the game gives random jackpot wins during slot play. But during this incident, payouts rose far above normal levels. Internal reports later suggested more than 35,000 jackpots were triggered during the fault.

In the week before, only a few hundred jackpots were recorded. This sharp increase pointed to a serious system error. Both William Hill and 888 Casino were affected. Their parent company, Evoke Plc, later said a software glitch caused the issue.

Player Claims Stress Led to Medical Emergency

One case became the focus of public attention. John Riding, 76, believed he had won £285K while playing online. The win appeared in his account on March 12.

He later tried to withdraw part of the money. After that, his account was blocked, and he could not access funds. He said customer support gave unclear answers during this period.

Reports later stated he suffered chest pain and was taken to hospital. He was treated after what was described as a heart attack. The case raised concern about the human impact of such disputes.

Accounts Frozen and Refunds Requested

After the incident, Evoke froze many affected accounts. The company began reviewing unusual jackpot activity across its platforms.

Some players had already withdrawn money before restrictions were applied. Evoke later asked for refunds from those users. In some cases, players were allowed to keep around 11% of the funds.

Several issues remain at the center of the dispute:

  • Accounts frozen after false jackpot alerts

  • Refund demands sent to players

  • Legal questions over reversed payouts

  • Complaints about slow customer support

Trust Issues Grow After the Incident

The glitch has raised wider concerns about trust in online gambling systems. Even accidental errors can damage confidence when large sums are involved.

Many players reported stress and confusion during the event. Some said balances showing life-changing amounts disappeared within hours.

William Hill later expressed sympathy regarding Riding’s health condition. However, the wider dispute over refunds and account freezes is still unresolved.
