A Michigan player has won the largest online jackpot in U.S. history
A Michigan player has hit the largest online casino jackpot in U.S. history, winning over $22 million from a 20-cent bet. The record-breaking payout came from the progressive slot Huff N' Even More Puff on DraftKings.
A Michigan player has hit the largest online-casino jackpot in U.S. history, winning more than $22 million from a single 20-cent spin.
The anonymous DraftKings customer was playing the progressive slot Huff N’ Even More Puff when they triggered the life-changing win of $22,407,248.55.
This new record more than doubles the previous U.S. milestone set in February, when another DraftKings player from Michigan won $9.28 million from a 20-cent wager on the progressive slot Irish Pot Luck.
Christian Broughton, DraftKings’ Executive Vice President and General Manager of iGaming, celebrated the achievement. “Setting yet another record for the biggest online-casino jackpot in the U.S. is a landmark moment and reflects the incredible experiences we deliver for our customers,” he said. “Crossing the $22 million mark is something we’re extremely proud of, and it reinforces our commitment to offering a best-in-class gaming experience.”
The global online-slot jackpot record is believed to be the €17.8 million (about $24 million) prize won in 2013 by a 40-year-old man from Helsinki, who hit the Mega Fortune jackpot from a 25-cent bet.
What This Record Means for the U.S. iGaming Market
The massive $22.4 million jackpot is a clear sign of how fast the U.S. online casino industry is developing, especially in states like Michigan, where the market is already well-established. Progressive jackpots are growing at a pace that, until recently, was seen mostly in Europe, and players are showing stronger interest as more U.S.-targeted jackpot games hit the market.
This new DraftKings win also points to a broader shift in strategy: operators are now prioritizing high-volatility games with huge top prizes. These big, attention-grabbing payouts aren’t just lucky moments — they’re becoming a key way for casinos to attract players, keep them active, and build recognition in a crowded market.
What Else is Michigan Known for in iGaming
In 2024, Michigan became the second-largest online casino market in the U.S., surpassed only by Pennsylvania, after setting a December revenue record of $244 million.
Michigan’s total iGaming revenue for 2024 reached $2.44 billion, slightly ahead of New Jersey’s $2.39 billion.
Together, Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania account for nearly 90% of the entire U.S. iGaming market.
