Poland’s Homegrown Payment System Blik Becomes Global
Blik, Poland’s most popular mobile payment system, has spent a full year as part of Revolut’s platform - marking its evolution from a local banking initiative into an integral part of Europe’s modern fintech network.
What Happened
Blik was launched in 2015 by Polski Standard Płatności, a company created by six major Polish banks. The system lets users make instant payments using a six-digit code, no card required.
In November 2024, Revolut introduced Blik as a payment option for its Polish customers. The addition allowed Revolut users with PLN accounts to pay online, make in-store purchases, and withdraw cash directly from ATMs using Blik’s secure code-based system.
Revolut reported that more than 4 million people in Poland now use its app, and BLIK’s integration opened the door for those users to pay instantly without leaving the Revolut ecosystem. At the time of launch, Blik was already used by almost 17 million people nationwide, according to Revolut’s official announcement.
Throughout 2024, Blik handled about 2.4 billion transactions worth roughly 350 billion PLN, confirming its position as Poland’s leading digital payment solution.

Why It Matters
The cooperation between Blik and Revolut represents a significant moment for Polish fintech. A system developed entirely by domestic banks is now integrated into an international financial platform.
For Polish users:
They can make Blik payments directly from within the Revolut app.
Payments and cash withdrawals remain instant and card-free.
Transactions are verified in the app, maintaining the same security standards as Polish banks.
Blik has also become one of the most popular deposit methods among Polish online casino players, both in Poland and abroad, thanks to its speed, simplicity, and bank-level security.
For Revolut, the move reinforced its strong position in Poland and made its app even more relevant for local customers accustomed to Blik’s instant payment experience.
What the Numbers Say
17 million active Blik users in 2024
2.4 billion transactions completed in 2024
Total transaction value is around 350 billion PLN
Over 4 million Revolut users in Poland are eligible for Blik payments
What’s Next
In May 2025, Blik signed a letter of intent to join the European Payments Alliance. The initiative aims to link mobile payment systems across Europe and create a shared standard for cross-border transactions. If fully implemented, this cooperation could enable users to make instant transfers between different national systems — a major step toward a unified European payment network that operates independently of global card schemes.
In Short
As of late 2025, Blik has completed its first year on Revolut’s platform. What began as a Polish banking project is now part of Europe’s digital payment infrastructure — a clear example of how homegrown fintech can succeed on a global stage.
