Flutter Entertainment Establishes a New Inclusion & Diversity Director Position

Flutter Entertainment – the company behind such sports betting and online gaming brands as Sky Betting, Betfair, PokerStars, and FanDuel – takes its commitment to foster an inclusive and diverse working environment seriously. To facilitate the process, the company set up a new position – the Director of Inclusion and Diversity, – with Greg McCaw appointed to be the first one to take it up starting February 1.

Greg McCaw will be responsible for developing and implementing Flutter Entertainment’s Inclusion and Diversity (“I&D”) strategy. This strategy’s main goal is “to ensure that everyone at Flutter shares a strong sense of belonging in a truly inclusive environment,” as stated in the company’s press release.

McCaw is a good fit for the position: he has got enough expertise relevant for the role thanks to a decade of consumer brand experience in People Function. He is also not new to fostering inclusion and diversity at corporate workplaces: he was the Head of Inclusion and People Engagement at Sky Betting & Gaming, a subsidiary of Flutter Entertainment, right before getting promoted to the Director of Inclusion and Diversity.

Before landing a job at Sky Betting & Gaming, McCaw served as Senior HR Business Partner for the UK and Ireland at New Look, a British fashion retailer, where he worked with partners like the Employers Network for Equality & Inclusion and Stonewall to foster an inclusive and diverse space at the company.

I’m delighted to welcome Greg to the team. He brings a wealth of experience, which the wider Group will benefit from as we continue to shape our inclusion and diversity strategy. Our goal is for all colleagues to feel a shared sense of ownership in our business. We want to build on our foundations to be a truly inclusive place to work, one where difference is celebrated and valued, because it is only when we all understand the role we play that will we really shift the dial. I’m really excited about what we can achieve together.

Caroline Ross, Group Chief People Officer at Flutter Entertainment plc

Commenting on the new role, Greg shared his excitement about the new role at Flutter: “Stepping into this newly created role is beyond doubt one of the most exciting opportunities I have ever embarked on. Already I’ve seen a willingness and commitment to developing a strong strategy for Inclusion and Diversity at all levels within this organisation, especially from senior leaders, where it can make a real impact.”

Apart from its dedication to inclusion and diversity, Flutter Entertainment is committed to promoting responsible gambling, supporting sports integrity, making its operations more sustainable, and fighting modern slavery and human trafficking.

As Flutter Entertainment put it, “Responsible Gambling (“RG”) for Flutter is fundamental to every element of the Group’s strategy.” To ensure that its products are enjoyed with no harm done, Flutter monitors its customers’ behavior to detect users that show signs of gambling addiction and may need an intervention. The company also invests in training on responsible gambling for its staff, donating to research on problem gambling and charities that deal with the issues, and participating in the UK and Ireland Responsible Gambling Week.

As for sports integrity, Flutter has a team of specialists on its payroll to “monitor all markets and make sure all sport remains free and fair.” The company has also signed over 70 Memoranda of Understanding, taking up the obligation to report any suspicious betting pattern to entities overseeing sports activities, such as FIFA and UEFA.

When it comes to the sustainability of its operations, Flutter has transferred all its UK retail stores to renewable tariffs back in 2019 while compensating business-travel-related carbon emissions by donating to Madre de Dios, a project against deforestation taking place in Peru, in 2018.
