Slingo
Slingo is a hybrid game format that combines elements of slot machines and bingo into a single gameplay experience. The term itself is a portmanteau of "slots" and "bingo," reflecting the dual nature of the format.
In a standard Slingo game, players are presented with a 5x5 bingo-style grid and a row of spinning reels at the bottom of the screen. Each spin reveals numbers that, if matched on the grid, are marked off — similar to how bingo works. The goal is to complete as many lines (called "Slingos") as possible within a set number of spins.
Slingo was originally created in 1994 by Sal Falciglia Sr. as a casual online game and later evolved into a widely recognized format across both social gaming platforms and licensed gaming environments.
The format is notable for its accessibility: it combines the fast-paced nature of slots with the pattern-recognition element of bingo, appealing to players who enjoy both formats. Modern Slingo titles often include bonus features, special symbols (such as Jokers and Super Jokers), and themed variations based on popular franchises.
