Bede Gaming plans Alberta growth with one-year AGLC license
Bede Gaming has taken an early step into Alberta’s planned iGaming market — securing a key license before the sector opens in 2026.

Early move ahead of market launch
Bede Gaming confirmed it received a one-year supplier license from the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis regulator — known as AGLC. The approval allows the company to prepare services for operators entering the market.
This license arrives at a critical time — Alberta is building its regulated online gaming sector. Officials began accepting applications from operators and suppliers in January 2026. That process marked the first formal step toward launch.
Only a small number of companies have secured early approval so far. Bede now stands among those first entrants — a position that could shape future deals.
Alberta looks to repeat Ontario’s success
Alberta’s plan appears influenced by the earlier rollout in Ontario. That market drew major operators and strong user demand after opening.
Officials now aim to create a similar environment — competitive, regulated, and open to growth. If successful, Alberta could become another key region for expansion in Canada. Several factors may drive that outcome:
clear rules for operators and suppliers
strong interest from international companies
demand from local players seeking regulated options
CEO signals long-term focus
Chief Executive Colin Cole-Johnson described the license as an important step forward. He noted the company has invested in Canada for years — and sees Alberta as the next phase.
According to his comments, the approval supports both growth plans and partner expansion. He also pointed to the company’s readiness — including compliance standards and local support.
“We have a longstanding investment in the Canadian iGaming industry,” he said. “I’m eager for the opportunities ahead in this new market.”
What the license allows
The approval permits Bede Gaming to supply services to licensed operators once the market goes live. That includes access to its internal systems and a wide set of integrations.
Operators may use these tools to build their casinos and reach users faster. The company offers more than 150 third-party connections — helping firms scale without long delays.
Beyond that, certification standards could play a role. Bede holds SOC 2 compliance — a signal of data and security controls. For new entrants, that may reduce setup risks.
A competitive race begins
Alberta’s market has not launched yet — but positioning has already begun. Suppliers and operators are moving early, seeking advantage before the official opening.
Bede Gaming’s license suggests a clear strategy — enter early, secure partnerships, and expand with the market. Whether that plan succeeds will depend on execution in the months ahead.
